The Fuller Good Gift Guide 2022

  • 5 December 2022

Calling all conscious consumers!

We’re thrilled to present the second edition of The Fuller Good Gift Guide: a collection of thoughtful, local and sustainable Christmas gift ideas from our clients and beyond.

From your artsy aunt to foodie friend, these products and experiences are bound to delight loved ones of all ages and interests.

In the spirit of Fuller’s ‘For Good’ values — and Christmas — we’ve included some brilliant not-for-profit organisations that we’ve had the privilege of working alongside this year, as well as pieces from artists, craftspeople and designers being mentored by our team through Guildhouse’s reVision Tech Mentor Program

Whether your Christmas shopping is tied-up in a bow or you’re destined for a whirlwind dash to the shops on the 24th, we hope this guide provides inspiration for a less consumerist, more considered Christmas this year and beyond.

Happy shopping!

Good gifts for creative sparks

There are some remarkably talented artists here in SA, and we’ve loved getting to know a few of them this year as proud supporters of Guildhouse. This Christmas, why not support our local artisans by purchasing or commissioning a one-of-a-kind gift?

Jackson Kane Metal Art blends engineering with nature to create sculptures of animals out of scrap metal and retired tools; Mel Bone-Manser produces handmade ceramic art, functional ware and garden art; Fiona Schubert paints bright and colourful wall-art from her studio in the Adelaide Hills and Samantha Faehrmann creates custom ceramic sets and basins!

A Fuller favourite, the APY Art Centre Collective, is a treasure trove of spectacular works from more than 500 Anangu Artists living on the APY Lands.

At their gallery in Thebarton and online, you’ll find gifts at a range of price points, from tote bags and notebooks, through to standout original artworks, ceramics and sculptures from well-known and collectable Indigenous artists, plus a host of young and emerging artists, too.

Good gifts that keep on giving

If you’re looking for a gift that keeps on giving perhaps for that person in your life who has it all making a donation to one of these life-changing not-for-profits this Christmas is the way to go.

Your donation to See Differently could help provide services to the blind or vision impaired, while a donation to AnglicareSA’s Christmas Appeal will support families doing it tough this Christmas.

With bushfire season on our doorstep, give back to the firefighters and their families who put their lives on the line to protect our community by making a donation to the CFS Foundation, or St John Ambulance SA, who provide front-line first aid services across our state.

Good gifts for gourmands

Our team was lucky enough to spend time on Kangaroo Island this year shooting content for the Kangaroo Island Tourism Alliance — and in the process, developed a taste for the delectable Ligurian honey from Clifford’s Honey Farm

With four varieties of honey, as well as a selection of honey-flavoured treats like popcorn, biscuits and fudge, Clifford’s is “worth swimming the Backstairs Passage for”…but luckily, you don’t have to, thanks to the introduction of their online store!

The local legends at Drakes Supermarkets are proud stockists of many iconic South Australian brands, including Maggie Beer, Alexandrina Cheese, Beerenberg, Spring Gully and FruChocs — all perfect stocking stuffers!

In 2022, Indigenous ingredients began to shine in mainstream cooking. If you’re looking for a gift for an adventurous home cook, forgo Ottolenghi for the First Nations Food Companion Starter Pack from Warndu. It features a selection of the most accessible and popular Australian native ingredients, and the much-lauded First Nations Food Companion cookbook.

Good gifts for tipplers

Look beyond South Australia’s most well-known wine regions and you’ll uncover a bounty of boutique distilleries and wineries, which make perfect presents for those who love to indulge in a Christmas tipple.

From Ligurian honey to Spiced Pudding Gin and Shearing Shed Red; Kangaroo Island is home to a range of hedonistic delights! Dudley Wines and KI Spirits were our team’s favourites.

Crafted in South Australia’s mid-north (with branding developed at Fuller HQ in Kent Town), Three Valleys Gin was a hit at the FULL:TIME Bar in 2022, as was the ever-popular wine from Wirra Wirra and Sawyer Wine Co. Our top gift picks for summer sipping are the Wirra Wirra Lost Watch Riesling and Sawyer’s new release Rose

As well as in culinary dishes, Indigenous ingredients are taking centre-stage in Australia’s beverage industry too. Fans of Seven Seasons’ Green Ant Gin are sure to love the Native Yam Vodka or Bush Apple Gin stocked by Indigenous food retailer Something Wild in the Central Market, or available for purchase from their online store
For more fantastic gift ideas for drink-enthusiasts,  Fassina Liquor   a locally owned and operated liquor store has you covered!

Good gifts for musos

Any music lover (heck, anyone!) would love a ticket to WOMADelaide this Christmas: a four-day festival celebrating the best in live music, arts, dance and food from around the world, held right here in Adelaide. A stellar line-up has been confirmed for 2023, including Florence + The Machine, Bon Iver, Sampa The Great and Bangarra Dance Theatre.

For the avid festival goer who isn’t able to make it to Falls Festival this year, a ticket to the Adelaide spin off, Heaps Good Festival, will not disappoint. This one day event in January will feature a selection of leading international and local artists including the Arctic Monkeys, Peggy Gou and Ocean Alley.

Tickets to a Chamber Music Adelaide or Adelaide Chamber Singers concert are perfect for those looking for a more intimate musical experience, while supporting incredibly talented local musicians.

Good gifts for adventure seekers

Is it just us, or does it feel like everyone is bouldering all of a sudden?! Beyond Bouldering offers a great range of merch and gear for the budding boulderer in your life, which can be purchased online or at one of their multiple locations across Adelaide.

Know someone in need of a little R&R this summer? A weekend getaway at The Retreat at West Beach Parks is the perfect antidote, while those who like to go ‘off-grid’ are sure to love a stay and feed at the Prairie Hotel: Australia’s quintessential, most-awarded outback hotel located in remote Parachilna, South Australia.

Now that state borders are well and truly open, treat your loved ones to a rail expedition, cruise or experience beyond your own backyard with Journey Beyond this Christmas.

Good gifts for homemakers

Don’t forget the goodest member of your household this Christmas! Australian-owned and operated Scratch Pet Food makes ‘honestly good’ dog food and treats, personalised to your doggo’s needs, and delivered direct to your doorstep.

Once you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped, tie a (recycled) bow around your gifts with a range of Australian made, 100 per cent recycled greeting cards and wrapping paper from Earth Greetings.

Founded right here in South Australia, Earth Greetings also stocks a range of gorgeous sustainable stationery and eco-friendly gifts to inspire feel-good giving, which can be purchased online or at one of their 50+ stockists across the state.

As 2022 draws to a close, we’d like to thank each and every one of our clients who we’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. Thank you for entrusting your brands with us!

Wishing you and your families a safe and relaxing Christmas, and a very Happy New Year.
