One of Fuller’s Senior Strategists undertook an immersion into the award-winning world of Tropica Island Resort, travelling to the incredible island of Malolo, in the heart of Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands to understand first-hand its magic. From meeting other guests and hearing first-hand experiences at the resort to exploring the island, kayaking, snorkelling and visiting the local village, the experience informed the brand messaging and visual identity for Tropica.
We developed a refreshed visual identity for Tropica, including the tagline – An Extraordinary Escape.
A BRAND TO TAKE ONE’S BREATH AWAY

The development of redefined brand foundations set the romantic wheels in motion for Fuller’s digital team to refresh the resort’s website, which was another communication priority.
In a world of fierce tourism competition, Tropica Island Resort had to stand out, while reflecting the authentic Fijian hospitality it was known for. To assist in showcasing this Mamanuca marvel, Fuller’s Senior Art Designer also worked to craft a contemporary look and feel for the brand, to complement the new narrative and web presence.
Designing an authentic brand
Tropica’s original logo referenced the butterfly fish, common to waters surrounding the resort. We retained this distinctive element, but crafted a new, refined version and paired it with a wordmark using Arizona Flare by Dinamo Type Foundry. A new suite of colours were introduced to better reflect the visual landscape and feeling of a visit to Fiji, while offering greater brand flexibility across print, merchandise and digital applications. A curated photography style was also developed, to assist Tropica with developing future photo libraries. Each carefully considered element was drawn together in a comprehensive style guide, giving the Tropica team the confidence to work with the brand moving forward.
